I’m not a morning person, by any stretch. But waking up at 5:30a for this romantic anniversary photo shoot was completely worth it! The morning sunrise light was so incredibly beautiful, and only eclipsed by this gorgeous couple, Krystina and Nik. Actually, typing this out, I just realized that this was my very first sunrise photo shoot.
Clay Austin designed and organized this styled shoot and I loved meeting and chatting with him. His “posing” process was entirely new to me and I’m anxious to take a few of the ideas I collected and incorporate them into my own flow. We started the shoot at the cabanas by the pool with this sweet couple and styled flat lays, and finished on the beach, a couple hours after sunrise. For this romantic anniversary photo shoot, I shot two rolls of Portra 800 (details and cabanas) and one roll of Fuji 400h (beach scenes) on a Contax 645.

“Mary Ann is the best! Her booking process is seamless and she has the most helpful location guide and a client closet of beautiful clothing to wear for photos if you’d like. She is such a pleasure to work with, beautiful inside and out, kind, warm and welcoming and her photography skills reflect this as well. She edited our entire gallery within the week and they are simply beautiful. Her attention to detail during and after the shoot is perfect! She helped us with posing, where to look, fixed my hair and clothing when needed. We will absolutely have her photograph all our big life milestones moving forward. She captures these moments in time beautifully and is such a sweet heart.” – Abby V.
