Emily and Charlie’s Cheyenne Lodge Wedding at The Broadmoor was one of those wedding days that seemed to change by the hour. Rain moved through Colorado Springs throughout the morning. Then, just when we needed it most, the clouds parted. The sun came out for their first look and wedding party portraits. Later, the rain returned and shifted the ceremony timeline. Finally, the skies cleared again for a beautiful evening of dinner, florals, music, and dancing.

In other words, it was a very Colorado wedding day. And it was an incredible one to photograph.

A Cheyenne Lodge Wedding at The Broadmoor

Emily and Charlie planned their wedding at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs with Jillian Marie Events. The result was an elegant, floral-filled celebration at Cheyenne Lodge that felt both sophisticated and joyful.

The day began in the Parker Suite in The Broadmoor’s West Building. It is one of my favorite places to photograph wedding preparations. The suite opens onto a private terrace with an incredible view of the mountains. So, naturally, we took advantage of it whenever the weather allowed.

That timing could not have been better.

First Look and Wedding Party Portraits

The rain stopped just in time for Emily and Charlie’s first look. The change in weather was dramatic. Suddenly, we had sunshine, mountain views, and a beautiful window of time to photograph the couple and their wedding party outdoors.

Because the weather was unpredictable, we made the most of every minute. The result was some of my favorite imagery from the entire day. The mountains provided an incredible backdrop, while the changing light gave everything a sense of movement and atmosphere.

For a wedding at The Broadmoor, that combination is hard to beat.

The Cheyenne Lodge Wedding Ceremony

After portraits, the rain returned. Rather than rush the ceremony, Jillian shifted the timeline slightly and allowed the weather to pass. It was absolutely worth waiting for.

When the skies cleared again, Emily and Charlie were able to have their ceremony in beautiful conditions. And the setting was spectacular.

One of the most memorable elements of this Cheyenne Lodge Wedding was the chuppah. Wild Hare Floral created an incredible floral installation filled with green, white, lavender, and orange blooms. The chuppah was lush without feeling overly formal. It framed the ceremony beautifully while still allowing the surrounding Colorado landscape to remain part of the experience.

It was one of those installations that made an immediate impression.

A Gorgeous Cheyenne Lodge Wedding Reception

With the input of the Groom’s mother, Jillian designed one of the most impressive weddings I have photographed at The Broadmoor. In fact, this was Jillian’s biggest design wedding to date. Every part of the reception space felt intentional.

Wild Hare Floral filled the room with arrangements in shades of green, white, lavender, and orange. Meanwhile, two hanging pendant lantern installations from House of Wilde added another layer of visual interest above the reception. The combination was stunning. Low arrangements, larger installations, and the overhead elements created a cohesive look without making the room feel crowded.

The color palette was especially beautiful against The Broadmoor’s Cheyenne Lodge green. It felt elegant, colorful, and completely at home in Colorado Springs.

Dinner, the Hora, and an Electric Dance Floor

After dinner, the celebration really came alive.

The band, Mannequin, signed with Elan Artists, was incredible. More than one guest commented on how good they were throughout the evening. And once the dance floor opened, it was easy to see why.

The hora was especially fun. Then the dance floor stayed packed. The energy was infectious, with Emily and Charlie surrounded by friends and family for the rest of the night. After such a weather-filled day, ending with a packed dance floor felt like the perfect conclusion.

Emily & Charlie’s Broadmoor Wedding Weekend

Emily is originally from London and has lived in Chicago with Charlie for the past two years. Charlie and much of his family lives in the Chicago area. Their dog, Luna, is also part of their family.

Charlie’s mother played a major role in planning the wedding, helping bring all of the pieces of the day together. And with Jillian Marie Events at the helm, the final result was an incredibly thoughtful celebration.

Their Broadmoor Engagement Session

Before their wedding day, Emily and Charlie also had their engagement session at The Broadmoor. See more of that here:

Their Broadmoor Welcome Party

The wedding weekend also began with a welcome party at The Golden Bee at The Broadmoor. It was a wonderful way to begin the weekend before the celebration at Cheyenne Lodge.

A Cheyenne Lodge Wedding Worth Remembering

There are certain wedding days that stay with me. Emily and Charlie’s was one of them.

From the rain moving through the morning to the sunshine during portraits, from the incredible chuppah to the floral-filled reception, every part of the day had its own atmosphere. Most importantly, the weather never diminished the celebration. If anything, it gave the day a little more personality.

And once the sun finally stayed out, Emily and Charlie got exactly what they deserved: a beautiful Colorado evening surrounded by the people they love, with the mountains nearby and an unforgettable dance party to end the night.

For couples considering a Cheyenne Lodge Wedding at The Broadmoor, this day is a beautiful example of what makes the venue so special. The setting is elegant. The mountain views are extraordinary. And with thoughtful planning, the entire wedding weekend can feel seamless, intentional, and completely your own.
