They met at the barre. No, not that bar! And meeting these two gorgeous people for Denver skyline engagement photos was the highlight of my week. With floaty soft blue tulle, lush florals, and a sharp style, Sheridan and Alex totally rocked this engagement session.
About The Couple
Both Sheridan and Alex are professional company members with the Colorado Ballet. Sheridan grew up and trained in Texas; Alex at The Joffrey Ballet in Chicago. They met at Atlanta Ballet’s summer intensive in 2018. Alex arrived at two weeks into a five week program, and he unknowingly placed himself at Sheridan’s barre spot. In ballet, dancers can be a bit territorial about barre spots. (I’m well aware of this myself, having spent decades of my life at the barre. Also, there is no quicker way to quiet a room of noisy ballet students than to threaten them with assigned barre spots.) So Alex stealing Sheridan’s barre spot brought them together. In the back of her mind, she was salty about it, but was able to look past the theft once they got to know each other.
Once the summer intensive was over, they both went their separate ways for a short while. Sheridan decided to stay for Atlanta Ballet’s school and Alex received a contract for their studio company program. Eventually, Alex asked Sheridan out to a party. On their first date, they went to a Mexican restaurant and Sheridan remembers having a lot in common with Alex. She says, “he was also really funny which I loved.”
Their favorite weekend activities are going out for drinks or going to a nice restaurant. Sheridan and Alex love going to movies, going on walks, and cooking together. After a long day in the studio or on stage, they relax at home by cooking, playing the guitar, reading, or watching tv.
