If you’re dreaming of Rocky Mountain National Park engagement photos, Alexa and Daniel’s session might be all the inspiration you need. From winding mountain roads to timeless photographs at nearly 12,000 feet elevation, their day was full of natural beauty and personal details, like Daniel’s navy blue Porsche 911 convertible.

Why Choose Rocky Mountain National Park for Engagement Photos?

With its iconic alpine lakes, dramatic mountain views, and endless scenic spots, RMNP is one of the most breathtaking places in Colorado to capture love stories. Whether you prefer lush valleys, high alpine tundra, or golden hour glow, the park delivers.

Best Time of Year for Photos in RMNP

Late spring through early fall is ideal. Trail Ridge Road, where we ended Alexa and Daniel’s session, is only open seasonally, and it offers panoramic views like nowhere else.

Alexa & Daniel’s Chic Mountain Session

We started in the northern part of the park around 8,000 feet, where the air was cool and the light filtered beautifully through the trees. Alexa wore a breezy white linen dress by Reformation, later paired with a blue filigree hair scarf that caught the wind just right.

Their Porsche? A showstopper. The navy convertible set a cinematic tone that paired perfectly with the sweeping landscapes. As we climbed Trail Ridge Road together, we stopped at a pull-off near 12,000 feet for some truly awe-inspiring moments.

And in true celebratory fashion, they popped champagne!

What to Wear for Rocky Mountain National Park Engagement Photos

Style matters, especially at high elevations where the landscape is already doing so much. Alexa and Daniel struck the perfect balance: relaxed yet elevated. Sunglasses, soft layers, and meaningful accessories (like Alexa’s scarf) helped tie their look together without distracting from the scenery.

A Little About the Couple

These two met on Hinge during the pandemic and had their first date at the Terminal Bar in Union Station. They now live in Denver with their dog, Toby. Daniel proposed on Alexa’s birthday, attaching the ring to Toby’s collar.

Their weekends are filled with outdoor adventures: skiing in the winter, camping and hiking in the summer. They love live music and comedy shows, and always find joy in a spontaneous date night.

Planning Your Own RMNP Engagement Session?

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Do I need a permit for photos? No. Currently RMNP does not require a photography permit. But there is a timed entry system. I typically enter through the northern Fall River entrance, which does not require timed entry after 2pm.
  • Can we drive Trail Ridge Road for photos? Yes, if it’s open (typically Memorial Day to mid-October). Weather can change quickly, so be flexible.
  • What’s the best time of day? Sunrise or sunset offers the best light and the fewest crowds.
