Bailey Colorado Holiday Family Photos Session

Who wouldn’t love to visit Colorado at Christmas and stay in a gorgeous Airbnb at 8,370 feet on the side of a mountain overlooking the Pike National Forest? :::raises hand::: And that’s exactly what this awesome and fun extended family from Louisiana and Texas chose to do this holiday season!

The day of their Bailey, Colorado family photo session was a “warm” 42 degrees (it really did feel nice!) in the mountains with a brightly shining sun! And it was a beautiful drive up from the Denver metro area. Though I’m used to my husband driving in mountains and climbing (and descending) the switchbacks by myself is only slightly scary.

I loved meeting this family of 10! Amy and Billy arrived with daughter Roamy and son Kruz. Annie (Amy’s sister) and Asa arrived with daughters Chloe and Madeline. And Reagan (also Amy’s daughter) arrived with husband Colin. Each family unit was unique and so fun! And Asa was so helpful multiple times as a photographer’s assistant – holding bushes and twigs out of the way, making sure I didn’t fall off my stool, and dancing the fireplace flames!

Couples are my fave to photo, so I made sure to get plenty of couples only photos in addition to the family groups. Reagan and Colin, in particular, look especially fabulous in their neutral-colored solid tops. Solid colors typically photograph better than a random mix of prints (especially for large groups) and this family nailed the look! Everyone looks cohesive and so well-put-together in their coordinating green and neutral color palette. And denim jeans are always a perfect complement for a relaxed, casual photo look.

We still have a few months of winter left in Colorado with plenty of snow in the forecast. If the upcoming year’s weather is anything like 2020, we’ll have an entire February of snow! It’s not too late to book your Colorado family photos. Cheers to a happy 2021!
