I met this sweet family for Daniel’s Park family photos in the summer of 2020. It was love at first cuddle for Olive and Holly! Olive, a black dachshund terrier mix, had been the featured shelter dog for multiple weeks with no interest. The first time Holly held Olive, she curled up into her chest against her heart and Holly knew she was meant to be theirs! But the dogue d’honneur is Zurie, a tan bull terrier mix. Zurie recently celebrated her 10th adoptaversary and is such a special pup, that John included Zurie into his proposal to Holly.
John and Holly met in the classic 21st century way – online! They love spending time together at home with their two pups listening to classical music as John invents creative dog parodies with the girl’s quirky personalities and characteristics.
Zurie has a soft spot for Hawaiian sweet rolls (yes Zurie!) and Culver’s vanilla peanut butter banana custard, and strongly believes life is too short to turn down a snack. Olive is a huge fan of puppucinos, heating blankets, catnip toys, and hoarding shoes. John and Holly adore both dogs immensely, especially the joy Zurie brings with her toothy smiles and Olive with her grey beard and happy dancing.
Before moving to Colorado, this easy-going and caring (and so sweet) couple enjoyed taking Zurie and Olive to Pismo and Avila beach in California. With Zurie’s advanced age, they’ve been enjoying staycations recently. Living in Colorado has been a blessing for them as they are able to visit Holly’s family.
Holly says of John, “It’s hard to imagine life without our paths having crossed but we’re so thankful they did. Our relationship still feels like a dream come true, even after seven years together and we look forward to the many more years to come.”
