As a Denver Colorado family photographer, one of my favorite things is creating photographs that feel both connected and scenic. Blending genuine family moments with the natural beauty of the Colorado mountains. This recent family session in Golden, Colorado was the perfect combination of both.

Katrina, Brandon, and their daughter Emmy were full of life from the very beginning. Originally from the Midwest and East Coast, they’ve called Colorado home since 2009 and wanted family photographs that reflected the scenery and lifestyle they’ve come to love here.
Golden is one of my favorite locations for family photos near Denver because it offers beautiful mountain views while still feeling relaxed and accessible for families with young children. The open space, evening light, and Colorado landscape create the perfect setting for playful, natural family portraits.
A Relaxed Approach with a Denver Colorado Family Photographer
One thing I always want families to know before their session is that children do not need to sit perfectly still or smile at the camera the entire time. My approach as a Denver Colorado family photographer is centered around movement, connection, and allowing kids the space to simply be themselves.
We play games, walk together, explore the scenery, and keep the session moving naturally so children can warm up comfortably. While we absolutely capture the classic smiling portraits parents love, some of the most meaningful photographs often happen in between those moments…the laughter, movement, and genuine interaction that unfolds naturally throughout the session.
Emmy completely embraced the adventure of the evening, and the three of them were so trusting, playful, and easygoing throughout their session together.
