When I acquired this gorgeous, dramatic, oversized tulle dress earlier this year, I knew I needed a fabulous model and ballet dancer to showcase it for Rocky Mountain dance photos! I was super fortunate to meet Ever, a corps de ballet dancer with the Colorado Ballet.

Ever teaches at the same dance studio I teach at in Castle Rock. And I discovered that we both share a deep love of the 1845 Romantic-era ballet Giselle. Giselle is a hauntingly beautiful story of love and betrayal. This stunning ballerina is originally from Chicago, but grew up in Colorado Springs. She moved with her parents to Denver to join the Colorado Ballet Academy’s pre-professional program. While in the Academy, she danced the roles of Odette from Swan Lake and Giselle from Giselle. It didn’t take her long to join the Colorado Ballet’s studio company, and quickly rise to apprentice, then corps de ballet. She’ll continue ballet rehearsals later this summer as Colorado Ballet’s prepares for their 2022-2023 season. And they will perform Dracula this Fall, another recent favorite ballet of mine. I’ve seen Atlanta Ballet perform it multiple times!

We traveled to 11,600+ feet in the Rocky Mountains. Since I wanted an epic mountain backdrop that wasn’t too far from Denver, I chose Guanella Pass. I love that this spot is an easy 1.5 hour drive from my house (seriously, no super duper winding roads with steep drop offs and no guard rails that scare the crap outta me [looking at you Mt. Evans]). And it’s practically deserted on a weekday.
