I met Melissa and Derek, a super sweet couple, at one of my favorite local spots for Denver mountain engagement photos. After I initially met Melissa (via Zoom), I could tell Derek was going to be such a nice guy by how she described him!
Melissa has lived in Colorado her entire life and is a high school social studies teacher. Additionally, she is the head coach for the school’s swim program. In her free time, she enjoys camping, cooking, baking, reading, and listening to True Crime podcasts. Derek is also a Colorado native and works as a project manager in construction. And in his free time, he likes to camp, fish, and relax!
These two met through their local church group. What started as a friendship slowly turned into something a little bit more. After about a month, Derek asked Melissa out on their first date. They got Mexican food and then went bowling. They should have known this was meant to last from the start…Mexican food is their favorite meal to eat! Everything felt very natural on their first date. And they were both surprised by how easy everything felt.
Melissa and Derek were planning on building a new home, and Derek asked Melisa to marry him on the foundation of what was going to be their future home! Ultimately they went in a different direction with the house, but it was so special to think that the foundation of their marriage was starting on the foundation of their new home.
